More Information Regarding Groups
Level II Education - Level II Education consists of 24 hours of DUI education over 12 weeks. Level II Education is typically conducted in a group setting, class size is limited to not more than 12 regularly attending. This class can be recommended by itself or may be followed by Level II Therapy. Level II Education meets state standards for required education for DUI/DWI/DWAI offenses. There is a strong focus on alcohol/drug education and pro-social issues, as well as driving-related materials. This group is also appropriate for those who want or need a general rising of awareness about alcohol or other drug use and the accompanying problems. This group meets once per week for two hours.
Level II Therapy - When Level II Therapy is required it follows Level II Education and can range in length from 5 to 10 months depending on the track assigned. Track assignment depends on whether a person has prior impaired driving offenses, their BAC and other clinical indicators. These track recommendations are made by the alcohol evaluator (probation) or in the absence of an evaluation, the treatment agency. This group process continues to look at individual use of alcohol/other drugs and to develop other kinds of strategies rather than continued use/abuse of alcohol and other drugs. Utilizing a workbook as well as other methods to accomplish its goal, the program provides structured exercises for self-assessment, stress reduction, natural highs, refusal skills, self-esteem, progression, violence, anger, high risk factors of substance abuse and models for change, among many other topics. Discussion by group members further enhances the opportunity to make effective changes. This group meets once per week for two hours.
The following are the track guidelines:
Track A, 42 hours over 21 weeks, first time offender with a BAC below .17 (.2 if offense was prior to 1/1/07)
Track B, 52 hours over 26 weeks, first time offender with a BAC of .17 or above (.2 if offense was prior to 1/1/07)
Track C, 68 hours over 34 weeks, prior DWAI/DUI, with a BAC below .17 (.2 if offense was prior to 1/1/07)
Track D, 86 hours over 43 weeks, prior DWAI/DUI, with a BAC of .17 or above (.2 if offense was prior to 1/1/07)

There are many programs that work at helping people with their alcohol or other drug problems. This program combines the two, working to help people with both alcohol or other drug problems and a criminal conduct history. SSIC is designed to deliver a long-term (nine months to one year) intensive, cognitive-behavioral oriented treatment program to adult substance abusing offenders. This group meets one time per week for 2 hours.

What is Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)?
